Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Monday, 23 May 2005 7-9 am This morning at Radnor Lake I walked my usual route from the west parking lot to Long Bridge and back. Just before the Artist and Teacher bench I saw some movement quite low in a close tangle and got a brief glimpse of a bird that seemed to have an eyering. Eventually, I got a brief but good view of a female MOURNING WARBLER. It chipped several times, which brought in a male INDIGO BUNTING to check it out. Later near the fence just before Long Bridge I got nice looks at a male MOURNING WARBLER, chowing down a breakfast caterpillar. This has been an excellent year for MOURNING WARBLER sightings at Radnor Lake, but CONNECTICUT WARBLERs have been very elusive since the first sightings some 10 days ago. In the same general area, a bit before Long Bridge, I had a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, another late migrant, giving its "tuwee" call over and over again. Unfortunately, it never came close enough to see. Two MAGNOLIA WARBLERs rounded out the migrants this morning. -- Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 330 10th Avenue North Nashville, TN 37203 USA =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
