We walked into the forest from there. When I bumped into the deer, I guess I was on private property. That was when I saw the Yellow Rumped Warbler and the Hooded Warbler. And the Gray Catbird. Do I get to count these birds on my Life List, even though I broke the rules? When we were leaving, some old codger in a pick-up truck stopped and asked us if we were looking for someone. I told him that we were looking for birds. He smiled and drove on. I'm guessing he was a tenant farmer or a custodian, because he did not look rich enough to own all the land. That Loggerhead Shrike with shredded paper in his beak was on public property. Even Woody Guthrie could not complain. "This land is your land, this land is my land...".
