Out of curiosity, I looked down the TN official list and found only 9 species on it that I don't have for the ABA area: Barnacle Goose Masked Duck Yellow Rail Red-necked Stint Sharp-tailed Sandpiper Ivory Gull Variegated Flycatcher Sprague's Pipit Smith's Longspur Of those, only three (the rail, pipit, and longspur) are regular birds anywhere within a days drive of here. Pretty slim pickins... But on the other hand, there are 46 species listed as "Regular" I don't yet have on my TN list, including such easy ones as both bitterns, all rails, and many common shorebirds. So I have plenty of State tickies to look forward to in the next few years by just making trips to good habitat at good times of year without any special chasing. Looks like Memphis and Standifer Gap should both be on my itinerary for this spring!
