NTOS February Field Trip
February 2 - We hope you can come to this scenic rural field trip in Robertson
County. There are thousands of acres of beautiful farm land there that are home
to Horned Larks and Eastern Meadowlarks year 'round, and in the winter the
expansive fields found in the northern part of the county attract American
Pipits, Lapland Longspurs, White-crowned Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, Northern
Harriers, and Loggerhead Shrikes. We will explore several quiet, infrequently
traveled farm roads by car looking for these species. Some of the viewing will
take place alongside wide open fields and the wind can be especially biting in
those conditions. Dress warmly. We will meet at 7:30 A.M. at the Dunkin' Donuts
at Exit 24 (Pleasant View/Springfield) on I-24 where we will join the trip
leader, Tony Lance. The outing should finish shortly after midday, so be sure
to bring a lunch and water.
Some may want to meet in Nashville in the lower parking lot of the Adventure
Science Center to carpool to the field trip site. If this is your choice,
please introduce yourself to each other, choose your driver(s), and leave no
later than 7:00 A.M. to meet the others at the Dunkin' Donuts mentioned above.
