4-19-08 Shelby Park and Bottoms Davidson Co. NTOS members enjoyed a nice morning at Shelby Park, totaling 52 species at Mission Hill and Phase 1 of Shelby Bottoms combined. Ten warbler species were seen or heard (some not as cooperative as we would have liked). We had an interesting aerial display of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird repeatedly buzzing a Carolina Wren. Birds of interest included: double-crested cormorant - 10 flying over red-shouldered hawk lesser yellowlegs - in standing water on the grass on the north side of Sevier Lake. chimney swift ruby-throated hummingbird eastern phoebe great crested flycatcher eastern kingbird white-eyed vireo purple martin tree swallow n. rough-winged swallow barn swallow blue-gray gnatcatcher brown thrasher blue-winged warbler Tennessee orange-crowned Nashville yellow-rumped black-throated green yellow-throated prairie palm common yellowthroat field sparrow white-throated sparrow blue grosbeak indigo bunting red-winged blackbird Jan Shaw Nashville, TN **************Need a new ride?
