The Nashville Spring Count was held on both May 3 and 4 because some groups
couldn't get out on the 4th. The count was held a week earlier than usual.
The total of 164 species was the highest since 1998 when 171 were counted.
Thirty-five warbler species were seen, just missing Wilson's and Canada.
Other highlights were Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron, 12 species of shorebirds
including 7 Willets, Red-headed Woodpeckers, all the vireos and swallows, a
late Brown Creeper, Marsh Wren, Savannah, Grasshopper, Swamp and White-crowned
sparrows, 69 Bobolinks, and 17 Pine Siskins at a feeder. Thank you to all 29
observers.
