Forgot to mention earlier in the week that I got an nice yardbird on Tuesday morning. As I pulled out of the carport and into the lane in Section X of River Plantation I found a shorebird looking for food in a puddle that had formed overnight on the blacktopped road. This DUNLIN surely looked out of place! Spent 90 minutes this morning, Friday, Nov. 1, at Radnor Lake in Nashville. Although it began as a brisk day, the sun attempted to peak through the clouds from time to time, exciting the birds into action. Most of seen species were signs of approaching winter. Large flocks of AM. ROBINs were wandering through the trees, and The WINTER WREN continues around the dam area. Also, there were plenty of kinglets today. In addition, for a change there were ducks on the pond. However, it was also nice to see a few fall migrant remnants. A couple nice warblers and a bunting rounded out the morning. Species of interest included: Ring-necked Duck 2 Lesser Scaup 8 Hooded Merganser 2 Am. Coot 6 Eastern Phoebe 1 Brown Creeper 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 8 Golden-crowned Kinglet 2 Orange-crowned Warbler 1 Black-throated Green Warbler 1 Indigo Bunting 1 Frank Fekel Tennessee State University Center of Excellence in Information Systems 330 10th Avenue North Nashville, TN 37203 USA =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
