For the first time this season, an immature Cooper's hawk has done a fly
over here in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville. I was standing at the
kitchen sink and looking out the window. Two mourning doves flew FAST over
the deck, then the roof, followed by a very striped immature Cooper's hawk in
hot pursuit. By the time I got to the French doors to look outside, a couple
of dove feathers, either from natural molting or contact being made, came
floating down to the deck. The blue jays were in the hackberry tree behind
the
house raising holy cane! I think "Immy" caught itself a meal and doubled
back to the hackberry, In a moment, I saw a large bird fly through an open
space in the hackberry "forest" and out the back way. I could not tell if it
had prey, but it had screaming blue jays "on its tail!".

Two mockingbird nests now have squalling babies for the second time this
year. A third nest full, should hatch any day.
