[TN-Bird] Northern Flickers displaying

Yesterday morning I observed two Northern Flickers displaying and vocalizing 
within 0-2 feet of each other on a tree limb near the wood line of our 
backyard. I witnessed a similar display last year around this time, but have 
not found much information regarding such displays during fall. My view 
yeserday was somewhat obscured so I believe it was at least 1 female involved, 
but I am not sure about the sex of the other. Wings were spread and tails 
fanned. Head bobbing was also observed, but no drumming.  

Any ideas on the purpose of such displays in the fall?
