Tuesday (3/13/2012) late afternoon I had a nice flyby by a Northern Goshawk at Rhoades Lake in Moss Island WMA, southwestern Dyer County. It was an adult in good plumage, deep slaty blue above, whitish below, with very well marked dark cap and dark, subtly banded tail with hairline-thin white tip. Size was impossible to judge against the sky above treeline hence I will hazard no guess as to male or female. And I didn't even need to lose a chicken for this one!
