I spent most of the day in northwest TN covering a few areas in Dyer and Lake
Co with a two TWRA biologists. We surveyed several locations and learned and
relearned a lot of birds.

Highlights:

Tigrett WMA - Dyer Co
1 Cerulean Warbler male seen up close
2 Northern Waterthrush singing and feeding in close proximity
2 Nashville Warblers
1 Acadian Flycatcher
1 Veery
1 Mississippi Kite

Lake Co.
Area north of Tumbleweed WMA and Hwy 79 is nearly all flooded with few birds
remaining.

Bobolinks on the MS River levee - one flock of 37 males, a second group of 3
males. No females seen.

Did not relocate the White-faced Ibis that Glen Criswell had at Black Bayou (on
Sunday, I think). We missed his American Bittern at Black Bayou (handicapped
duck hunting wetland area), but late in the day I returned and had 14
Yellow-crowned Night-herons. I also flushed a Sora and it flew across the
marsh, providing extended in flight views. At least 2 male Pied-billed Grebes
were calling/singing. Marsh Wrens were singing.

Large numbers of yellowlegs were in the field to the south of Van Works Rd, but
I didn't find their hiding spot until a tornadic cell blew through the area
(with me caught just to the north and between 2 nasty looking storms) and I saw
500+ shorebirds come out of the field. A lot of shorebirds were on Earl Trim
Rd and commuting back and forth to the Van Works Rd area.

Nearby the Ibis Hole on the MS Levee side I had a singing Least Flycatcher and
several flocks of 20+ indigo buntings (most were males).

Good birding, but nothing like Snow Bunting peninsula today!
