Late this afternoon an osprey flew over the lake and caught a very large fish. He took it high up in a tree to eat, with a great blue heron watching from the next tree and another blue heron flew in to sit below the tree to catch scraps. The osprey was still eating when I last saw it around 7 PM tonight. Other birds noticed today at the lake: Piliated Woodpecker Red bellied woodpecker Tufted titmice Wood thrush (my FOS) Chick-a-dees - some singing the mating song while some still doing the chick-a dee-dee-dee Ring-necked ducks Coots Bufflehead ducks Canada geese Cardinals Also, lots of wildflowers starting to bloom.
