I made a run to the Paris Landing/Big Sandy/Pace Point/ Britton Ford areas on
Tuesday (Jan 8). All refuge roads that are normally open this time of year
were open and in good condition. The waterfowl numbers were low for winter. I
did have 4 Bald Eagles inc. 1 adult over Paris Landing bridge and 3 immatures
near Bennet's overlook and the pont. One flyover of 100+ White Pelicans at
Britton Ford and fair numbers of White-fronted, Snow and "blue" Geese. The
fields in Britton ford area that normally are covered with Geese were covered
by several hundred Gulls....not seen that before over the years.
Hope the cold weather this week brings in more ducks for the Wings festival
next weekend.
