I spent much of the day on Percy Priest Lake (both Davidson and Rutherford Co)
checking on nesting wading birds. The lake is 3-4 ft lower than usual for this
time of the year, meaning shorebirds had some habitat in several places with
exposed mud flats and wide shorelines.

Few notes:
Tree Swallows nesting in a Corps river/depth marker off Long Hunter State Park
(Davidson Co). They have used this marker for several years.

Following are all Rutherford Co.:
Lamar Hill Rd area where Spring Creek and Fall Creek converge, fairly wide
mudflat. Needed scope!
2 Spotted Sandpipers
11 Least Sandpipers

Jefferson Springs area (upstream of the boat ramp) there is a "pond" holding
shallow water. Only boat accessible. Unfortunately I didn't have my scope, so
~20 distant shorebirds were left unknown, but I walked slowly out and got
relatively close to some of the peeps.
20 Blue-winged Teal
2 Greater Yellowlegs
5 Lesser Yellowlegs
8+ Solitary Sandpipers
8+ Least Sandpipers
1 Semipalmated Sandpiper sporting pale gray non-breeding plumage
6 Killdeer

Stewart Creek area, boat access only, in Smyrna city limits
7 Great Egret
1 Caspian Tern
8 Blue-winged Teal
1 Solitary Sandpiper

Poole Knob Field Trial area - most of the more shallow ponds are dry, but some
lake access areas held shorebirds.
5 Great Egret
2 Greater Yellowlegs
6 Semipalmated Plovers
7 Least Sandpiper
Indigo Buntings everywhere

Good Birding!
