Today at 11:40 AM, while I was on the phone & watching the birds at the
feeders, I saw a large shadow pass over the yard. Next thing a Peregrine
Falcon made a low pass from the west, crossed in front of me, swooped around
the fly-through feeder & passed in front of me again, back to the west. This
time tho' it actually flew through our covered porch. It passed about 8 feet
from me & at eye level! Landed in a pine tree, sat there for a minute & took
off towards the east. It did not catch anything.
I have been pretty sure I have seen one pass through the yard before, but there
was no doubt this time. I live at the foot of House Mountain & would like to
know if others have seen them while hiking.
