Another first for me at Pickwick Lake, I had an adult white-winged gull above the dam that gave me a merry chase. I got pretty good looks but at great distances as the large bird wrestled Herring Gulls for loon left overs. Then found it resting on a mooring near dam. The default species should be Glaucous but I did not see enough of wing tips to rule out a really super but rare possibility. I did see some puzzling details but I've never seen an adult Glaucous in TN. I have some distant shots to look at when I get home. Anyone in the area should check for this bird. A total of 26 Common Loon, a 2nd year Lesser Black-backed Gull and 4 Red-breasted Merganser were only other birds of interest before the rain. Jeff R. Wilson / TLBA 6300 Memphis-Arlington Rd.
