This afternoon I returned to find both Reeves still present. The smaller
darker bird slept in among the Blue-winged Teal almost the whole time I was
there while the slightly larger more colorful bird fed all of the time except
when it would stop to preen. To me this indicates the smaller bird may leave
while I believe the other will stay a while. As usual there is a caveat, at 6
this afternoon a small male Peregrine Falcon sent all the birds into a tizzy
and
that lasted as they flushed time and time again until I left at 7:15. this
may induce a few birds to vacate the pits.

There are a few thousand birds down there and the mix has changed much since
we were there on Friday. There are 5 female Wilson's Phalaropes in breeding
plumage and one male. Many more Stilt Sandpipers and White-rumped. I just saw
2 Baird's and a ton of Dunlin.

Most of the time was spent trying for photos of the distant birds with the
winds buffeting the scope but I found 21 species. When all the birds flew about
trying to figure out which way to go a Willet appeared for number 21. Others
of interest were, 34 Long-billed Dowitchers and a fresh plumaged
Short-billed, a basic plumaged Western plus one in heavy molt to alternate
showing
bright red shoulders and 2 Wilson's Snipe.

Sora Rails continue to put on a show chasing around with the Grackle eating
Bittern sulking in the same pit looking for another grackle maybe.
Good Birding!!!
