I don't get over the very often but here are some sites I have visited and
links to more info - I am sure someone from that area will also post info.
Newfound Gap parking area - the trail from here (part of the Appalachian trail)
is a good place for black capped chickadee - not a new bird for you guys but
only found in this area in TN. pay attention to the state line and you can add
it to both north carolina and tn lists :).

The nature trail behind the Sugarlands visitor center is good for warblers and
other migrants.

The nature trail at Chimney Tops picnic area is a short loop with gorgeous
wildflowers.  Cade's Cove is also a beautiful area, with areas of fields and
forest leading to a good diversity of birds.  There is also a water treatment
pond behind the campground that has ducks at times.

Here are some sites for more info:

www.tnwatchablewildlife.org - click on birds, then "where to watch" and pick
east TN - this will also show you areas around the park that might be good for
you to visit/bird if you have time.  It also includes wonderful info and
descriptions of the birds of tennessee.
