Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Friday, 2009 Oct. 9 7:05-8:55am partly cloudy, windy For most of my walk this Friday morning at Radnor Lake it was a rather typical fall day. The mix of birds was generally similar to that of yesterday but the species count was down a bit. Then, at the cedar tree after bench 12 but before bench 13 and the deck, I got my highlight of the morning, nice looks at a male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, a relatively rare fall migrant in the Nashville area. BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLERs were still the dominant warbler species today. I finished the morning with 11 warbler species and only 2 vireo species, no tanagers and no thrushes except for AM. ROBINs. CANADA GEESE numbers seem to be increasing, making the morning very noisy at times. Birds of interest included: Canada Goose 76 Cooper's Hawk 1 Chimney Swift 17 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 2 E. Wood-Pewee 1 E. Phoebe 3 Philadelphia Vireo 1 Red-eyed Vireo 1 Gray Catbird 1 Warblers: Tennessee 2 Chestnut-sided 2 Magnolia 5 Black-throated Blue 1 male Yellow-rumped 3 Black-throated Green 9 Blackburnian 1 Bay-breasted 2 Black-and-white 3 Am Redstart 3 (1 adult male) Common Yellowthroat 1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak 2 Frank Fekel Nashville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
