Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Wednesday 2008 May 14 6:45-8.45 am Showers Wednesday morning I went to Radnor Lake and spent a short two hours birding between the rain drops. Migrants were numerous, active, and singing even in the light rain. Although several heavier showers caused a cessation of most activity, it was a good morning. The adult BALD EAGLEs were calling and fishing. A FORSTER'S TERN was also flying over the lake. A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen giving its call just before I reached the west parking lot. There were plenty of thrushes around, WOOD, GRAY-CHEEKED, SWAINSON'S, and VEERY. My abbreviated walk produced 15 warbler species. I am sure the NTOS Wednesday walk group added to that number. I got nice looks at the male MOURNING WARBLER, who was singing near the dam. He is likely the same individual I found there on Monday. Unfortunately, I have but one more day to find my CONNECTICUT at Radnor before I leave for NJ for a family visit (and a bit of birding). Warbler numbers: Tennessee 5 N.
