Rain

Thursday morning I looked at the weather map radar
and decided to give Radnor one more chance before
heading out of state. Unfortunately, the rain
drops were much more frequent than yesterday and
I still heard no CONNECTICUT WARBLER. However,
there was still plenty of action going on. With
low overcast skies, near the dam I very briefly
pished and found myself surrounded by a mixed
flock of 9 different warbler species, who
came to see what all the fuss was about. I was
surprised at the number of folks who enjoy
walking in the rain. One was fellow birder
Ken Oeser whom I met on the trail, and who told
me that the MOURNING WARBLER at the dam was
still present. As we were talking near the
deck on the Lake Trail, I heard and then got a
brief look at another MOURNING. In all I found
14 species of warblers and ran into a pair of
birders from Alabama who found BLACKBURNIAN
and HOODED WARBLERs that I missed. There were
plenty of RED-EYED VIREOs as well.

Warblers:
Tennessee 5
N. Parula 2
Yellow 2
Chestnut sided 1
Magnolia 4
Black-throated Green 1
Bay-breasted 4
Blackpoll 7
Am. Redstart 2
Prothonotary 1
Kentucky 1
Louisiana Waterthrush 1
Mourning 1
Canada 1
