Kingston Steam Plant Roane County east Tennessee - Exit 350 off I-40 Dean Edwards reports a breeding-plumaged RED-NECKED PHALAROPE currently (Monday, May 26, 9:40 a.m. ET) at the Kingston Steam Plant in Roane County in east Tennessee. The bird is on the main large pond. After parking in the area near the ball fields, walk in the dirt road and take the road up the hill to the left. Walk along the path that allows you to view the pond and continue toward the corner (nearer the Clinch River). Dean says there are a lot of shorebirds out there right now, including White-rumped Sandpipers and lots of 'peeps'. Could be other surprises found by the time you get there.
