August 21, 2018
The Reelfoot to Memphis Run is two weeks from now. Saturday, September 1, 2018.
We will meet in Tiptonville, TN at the Marathon Gas Station at the South East
Corner of Carl Perkins Pkwy (HWY 78) and Lake Dr. (HWY 22) at 7:00AM sharp.
We will have a short meet and greet and take off for the day. There are
restroom facilities where we stop around Reelfoot Lake. After, Reelfoot Lake,
we will not have facilities until sometime around midday when we stop in
Arkansas at a Gas Station that has facilities and hot food and drinks. After
this we head to the Pits in Memphis until dark or until you wish to leave.
Restrooms are scare on this trip. This trip is usually hot. It’s West, TN, so
bring plenty of food and drink, insect repellant, Binocs, Scopes and whatever
you think you might need. This is not leisure birding. There is not a lot of
walking, but you will be in the sun all day unless its cloudy. Make sure your
vehicle has plenty of fuel and is in good condition. This trip has been made by
people ranging from 10 to over 80 years old, so its not as bad as I make it out
to be. I just want you to know, this is birding. Not, a leisure trip. This is a
trip for birders wanting to bird the Mississippi Flyway. We will go rain or
shine. That’s the way we started it, that’s the way it has always been, unless
it’s unsafe to be outside, thunder storms all day, Hurricane coming through,
tornadic activity. There is no fee, this is just birders meeting up to go
birding. Hope to see you Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Marathon Gas
Station where the Adventure begins.
