On our way back from Pigeon Forge today, I decided to turn off of Wears Valley Road onto Walden's Creek Road. This road will finally come out just below Walland School. Probably about five miles before reaching the school, I spotted a Ruffed Grouse standing on the side of the road. I stopped the car and immediately whipped out the car binocs to get a good view. Since the road is not heavily travelled, I sat there for about four minutes. As I slowly moved the car, the bird walked across the road. I was able to get almost up to it, before it went down in a ravine on the creek side. What was so funny, was that less than five minutes before coming upon the grouse, I had told Mom to keep her eyes peeled that we might see a grouse or wild turkey through here, and sure enough we did!
