10 December 2003 Limestone, Washington Co., TN At a little past four this afternoon, I stopped briefly at Keebler Road and Smith Bridge Road in the Limestone community of Washington County, hoping to find the Sandhill Crane and Rough-legged Hawk reported by Don Holt a couple of days ago. No hawks were to be seen, but the crane was present along Keebler Road. While in the area, I also drove down Smith Bridge Road (which intersects Keebler Road) and was delighted to encounter a flock of twelve Lapland Longspurs moving over the corn field in bounding flight and calling vigorously. Also present along Smith Bridge Road was a flock of 5000+ Common Grackles flying westward in a long, thin ribbon.
