I went to Kyker Bottoms Wildlife Refuge this morning. It was a good morning.
There were no rarities, but there were several FOY species plus a few
infrequently seen ones. However, the biggest surprise was what has to be a
last of spring species: four sandhill cranes. There are no eBay records for
sandhill cranes in Blount County in April of any year. The latest record for
March has been March 9th in 2013 (also at Kyker Bottoms). Photos along with a
report will be posted later today on eBird.
