This afternoon at 3:00 I was able to view at least 1,500 Sandhill Cranes on the ground in the cut cornfields north of Heritage Marsh in White County. In addition, there were as many as 500-1,000 more down in the marsh proper. I noticed a great deal of coming and going, lots of noise, and occasional groups coming up out of the marsh.
