I missed the banding session at Seven Islands State Birding Park Sunday morning (Nov 2nd), but I managed to get out there later for a nice walk. Birding highlight was a Lincoln¹s Sparrow seen right at the edge of the new parking lot by the entrance barn at about 10:50. There was a lot of activity on the slope west of the parking lot, and the Lincoln¹s came out and sat 30 m from the car. There was a Palm Warbler in the same area. Several White-crowned Sparrows were near the top of the hill where the wide mowed path bends to the left along with some White-throated Sparrows. A female Northern Harrier was initially sitting on the ground at the bend, and a single Golden-crowned Kinglet was in the woods nearby. A Pied-billed Grebe was in the little wetland pond down on the lower section of the park, and there were a good number of cooperative Swamp Sparrows in the field down by the banding house. By the time I got back up to the parking area around 1:40 pm the parking lot was about 3/4 full with quite a lot of people activity (very few appeared to be birders). I was unable to find the Lincoln¹s again, but with all the people moving around I did not look for long.
