East Tennessee
Knox County
Sharps Ridge, Knoxville

On Sunday, August 29, I went up to Sharps Ridge to make sure it is open and to
see what kind of bird activity was present.

YES, it is open.

Bird activity was a bit low, though there was one group of perhaps a dozen
migrant warblers that remained high in the trees, making identification
difficult. It was also quite foggy up there early, adding to the difficulty in
seeing the birds well.
I did manage to see

E Wood-Pewee
some Red-eyed Vireos
Black-and-white Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Hooded Warbler
possible Blackburnian, Worm-eating Warblers
a few Scarlet Tanagers

There has been some graffiti added to the display of the Smokies skyline at
the JB Owen Overlook, and apparently someone drove a car up on the wooden
wheelchair ramp, breaking it.
