Shelby Bottoms Phase Three
Phillip Casteel and I had both Marsh and Sedge Wren in Phase Three (Welcome
Lane entrance) of the bottoms this morning. Both of the wrens were found in the
cattails and tall grass behind the bat house along the paved trail. The sedge
wren was particularly cooperative as it popped up within 10 feet of us and
proceeded to preen out in the open for about a minute before dropping back down
into the thick grass.
