Yesterday, birds were scarce at the Lucius Burch Nature Area - along with people. Two catbirds were spotted. The fact that for the first time in several years Chickadees outnumbered Titmice was an event for me. Ever since West Nile severely reduced the number of Chickadees, that has not been case. The count was 13 to 2. A Greater Yellowlegs was heard along with a Red-Shouldered Hawk. Five Eastern Meadowlarks flew off from the side of the road as I was driving home..
