Out checking some of my Bluebird Trails again today and I got a nice surprise. At the Curevich's farm on Knox Rd. I flushed two (not so solitary) Soltary Sandpipers that were feeding in a semi-flooded plowed field. They circled around and landed on the shoreline of one of the ponds on the farm, where they stayed until I had to move on. Good looks. I can't say I was totally surprised though, because I usually see one here every year about this time. While there, I also got my FOY Balitmore Oriole, a beautiful female. The male Wood Duck was also present on the swampy pond again, but no female. Perhaps she's on eggs in the Wood Duck box in put up? Eastern Kingbirds were everywhere today and very vocal.
