We have had a good start for Spring 2018 in our yard. The first migrant was
a Blue-headed Vireo on March 27. We had been seeing Yellow Rump Warblers but
feel that they are holdovers from the winter. Two Blue Gray Gnatcatchers
arrived March 31. On the second day of April we saw a Black-and-white
Warbler, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and a Yellow-throated Vireo. Our first male
Ruby-throated Hummingbird also came on the 2nd and now we have about a
dozen or more at our three feeders, with four females coming in yesterday.
This week we have seen a Golden-crowned Kinglet, a Black-throated Green
Warbler , a Pine Warbler , a Red-eyed Vireo and a male Scarlet Tanager.
The bird we wish we had seen today came in a photo from our daughter in
Bowling Green, a male Hooded Warbler that flew into her window, sat stunned
for a few minutes, then flew away.
