Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga December 22, 2002 Sora: I think a Sora is still in the marsh. Four or five times in late November and so far in December I have heard a loud clear single note from in the cattails near my feet. Sometimes I immediately played a Sora recording to confirm my identification, and also to solicit a response, but never got a response. December 22, a bright day with temperatures in the 60s, I heard the complete song. I waited and listened but there was no repetition. Location for all of these sounds: north end of the marsh, near the gravel road which crosses the marsh and ends in a loop, approximately where the oil line markers indicate the oil line goes under the road. Visitors, please listen. Virginia Rail: 2 Sandhill Crane: 1 or more heard overhead, trees blocked view.
