-About 4:30 this afternoon our son-in-law, Steve Adair called to say that
he had found a Swallow-tailed Kite on 411S in Blount County. We
immediately drove over and were able to watch it feeding over a fallow field
and
perch on a tall dead tree and then feed again. We left it still circling the
field after watching for about 20 minutes. I was too excited to remember to
get gps coordinates, but it is about 12 miles south of Maryville, across
from a group of steel industrial buildings. The last one of those buildings
on the sw side of the hwy. is Tranco Transmissions and the hedgerow with
the tree is almost exactly across 411 from there The next road west is
Henry Lane. Steve and Stacey had seen it closer to Maryville, but still on
the east side of the highway. If you get to Meltron you've gone too far.

I made a couple of photos, but my lens was not powerful enough to zoom in.

Hope those who look are able to find it.
