Swainson’s Hawk in Lake County September 19th, 2020 Victor and I found a very
tame, cooperative juvenile Swainson’s Hawk this evening on Harry George Road
near Tiptonville Tennessee. The bird was literally in the road when we found
it. When we left near dusk it was in the freshly harvested corn field near the
road where it had been feeding on something left behind by the combine,
presumably a dead rodent. We also had a subadult Golden Eagle at Jolly Landing
in Lake County for a total of 12 species of diurnal raptors for the day. The
Eagle seems to be a bit early this far South. Ruben Stoll, Pleasantville
