Word is slowly filtering around about a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE that was spotted yesterday (Sunday, 20 April 2008) in Fayette Co, TN near Memphis. The bird was found and photographed by Allen Sparks. I've not heard if the bird has been relocated but also not sure if anyone has looked today. Directions supplied by Dick Preston: Herb Parsons Lake is a state park. Entrance off Fisherville Lake Road. This is just east of the Shelby/Fayette county line, off Macon Road. Page 14, C4 in the Tennessee Gazetteer. The info I have is the bird was working the trees on the left as you enter the park from Fisherville Lake Road, near the archery course. Not sure when the gate opens, but I think it's 7AM. You can walk in even if the gate is closed.
