I observed a common loon (loudly calling) on lower Tellico Reservoir yesterday (6/23) about 1 mile above Tellico Dam on the left descending shoreline. I didn't notice any obvious injuries to the bird as it was swimming and diving regularly. I have also been observing song sparrows constantly feeding a fledgling cowbird at my home in Oak Ridge. The cowbird flies from shrub to shrub begging for food.
