On Saturday, June 9, the Nashville Chapter of TOS will make a field trip to nearby Rutherford County. We will meet at 6:30 am at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville and carpool to the Discovery Center (502 S.E. Broad Street) in Murfreesboro, where Terry Witt will meet and lead us. Those wishing to go directly to Murfreesboro should plan to be there by 7:30 am. We will bird the open fields and tree-lined edges in search of the county specialties such as Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Bewick's Wren, and Lark Sparrow. Other birds we may encounter include Loggerhead Shrike, Red-headed Woodpecker, Blue Grosbeak, Grasshopper Sparrow, Dickcissel, Yellow- crowned Night-Heron and Eurasian Collared Dove. We will return to the Discovery Center by 11:30am. There will be very little walking involved. Bring water and snacks.
