While walking at day break down by the Air Park Inn by the Runway , my Blk. Lab
Jay -Jay flushed a Virginia rail out of the marshy ditch. It flew low along
the ditch, low across the road, landed in the grass and ran along the road in
the grass and settled at the base of a Cypress tree where it blended in well
then ran back across the road and back into the marsh. Had a long, thin down
curved bill and was observed without binoc as a dark bird. about 9 inches, much
smaller than a King Rail. Air Park Inn is located in Northern Lake Co. Tn. on
hwy 213 off of hwy 78 N. of Tiptonville, Tn.
