I spent several hours Wednesday afternoon at the refuge A quick spin around Blue Goose Loop didn't yield much, very little shorebird habitat there The only waders seen were GB Herons and Great Egrets From the observation point on the main refuge road, 30 A White Pelicans were on the river I hiked to the mudflat that Clayton had reported earlier The pink ribbons marking the path through the woods are a big help (thanks Clayton) The habitat looks good, but the only shorebird there was a single Greater Yellowlegs There were about 30 ducks scattered around, mostly Woodies. When I was nearly back at the car, just past the locked gate on a mudflat out in the river was a large group of ducks and shorebirds. Unfortunately, the distance was too much for me to hope for any identification. One would need a better set of eyes or more vivid imagination (or both), although one bird did look suspicious for BB Plover. Cheers Terry Witt Murfreesboro Tn
