I finally got to write up a few notes on other west TN birds from 16-18 May
2012.

We found small numbers of blue-winged teal all over west TN this week,
including at Ensley and President's Island (Shelby Co.) and in several places
in Dyer and Lake Co.

frequenting the ponds between the visitor’s center and the shop all spring;
however we did not see them.

Sheeps Ridge Rd, at the end of the road where you used to drive to Island 13
(Lake Co.):
As previously noted by Terry Witt, a colony of Bank Swallows are nesting in the
new bank on the right. We counted at least 47 nest holes that appeared active.
Yellow Warbler -1

Black Bayou, Phillippy Unit (Lake Co.)
Bobolink – 4 in the taller grass by the one pond with water on the road along
the north end of Phillippy.
The pond here had 10 species of usual shorebirds with a dunlin and one
short-billed dowitcher as a highlight.

Black Bayou Refuge, Handicapped Hunting area
Water was almost gone, hence no marsh birds, but 9 species of shorebirds, incl.
4 gorgeous Dunlin.
Also, lots of dead fish and black vultures.
