After our first 9 days of banding at Whigg Meadow, Cherokee National Forest, Monroe Co, TN (Sept 3-11) we have banded 300 birds of 32 species. This is a relatively low capture rate for this site and I suspect the bulk of migrants are yet to pass through. Of interest are a number of returns of birds banded at this location in previous years. Two Tennessee Warblers, 1 Dark-eyed Junco, and 1Black-capped Chickadee ( bcch banded in 2000). We banded our first Northern Parula in our 8 years at this site and only our 2nd Kentucky Warbler. Other highlights include a Wilson's Warbler, and 2 Golden-winged Warbler. Weather permitting, banding will be conducted daily through Sept, 24. complete list of species captured: David Vogt Chattanooga, TN Ruby-throated Hummingbird Blue-headed Vireo Red-eyed Vireo Carolina Chickadee Black-capped Chickadee Veery Gray-cheeked Thrush Swainson's Thrush Wood Thrush Gray Catbird Blue-winged Warbler Golden-winged Warbler Tennessee Warbler Northern Parula Chestnut-sided Warbler Magnolia Warbler Black-throated Blue Warbler Black-throated Green Warbler Blackburnian Warbler Palm Warber Bay-breasted Warbler Black-and-white Warbler American Redstart Worm-eating Warbler Ovenbird Kentucky Warbler Hooded Warbler Wilson's Warbler Eastern Towhee Dark-eyed Junco Indigo Bunting =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
