I observed 26 Willets out from the outfield fence of the baseball field behind Boyd Buchanan school from around 7:15 EDT to 8:30 EDT last night (5/3) at the Brainerd Levee. The birds were spooked by a nearby soccer game and flew north around 8:30 and did not return that we (Dan Jacobson and I) saw. This is the biggest flock I have seen in Tennessee. We also had our first three BANK SWALLOWS of the spring as well as a Northern Waterthrush and our first Common Nighthawk of the year. (Jimmy Wilkerson had the first nighthawk report on 5/2).
