On my morning walk in Kirby Woods about 7:45 am, I saw and heard a winter wren
at very close range. There appeared to be a pair of them, but heard only one
in full song. These birds are winter residents, but I have rarely heard or seen
them.
Many other birds were singing, but the only other notable bird was single fish
crow. Soon the rain started, moderately heavy, and bird song dropped completely
or was so muffled by the rain on my umbrella, that I could no longer
distinguish individual species.
