Duck River NWR, Humphreys County July 1, 2017 1 pm
Jackie Corbin and I scoured the Duck River National Wildlife Refuge south of
New Johnsonville today for 5 hours, and missed on seeing any Roseate
Spoonbills. We did however see a Black Tern from the levee out from the end of
Pumphouse Road while hiking out and again on the way back an hour later.
Later from the Wildlife Loop Road, after passing Pool 3 on the right on the way
out, I spotted a Wood Stork in a pond on the left. The Great and Snowy Egrets
with it flushed to the back of the pond, as did the stork, so I was harder to
see when we left.
