Today was probably the best day for yard birds yet! Early this morning at around 7:10, I had a nice 5-10 minute "conversation" with a pair of Great Horned Owls right outside my bedroom window. I got my scope on the female but I didn't see the male. Later on in the morning, I went out "warbler searching". I was successful and found nine species in a little over an hour. Highlights of the morning: Red-shouldered Hawk - 2+ (one was a juvenile, I didn't see the other one that was calling, A few Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were telling the hawk a thing or two about coming near "their" flowers!) White-eyed Vireo - at least 1 BLUE-WINGED WARBLER - 1, male Chestnut-sided Warbler- 4+ Magnolia Warbler - 3+ Black-throated Green Warbler - 1, male Blackburnian Warbler - 3+, all females Pine Warbler 4+ BAY-BREASTED WARBLER - 1, first fall male (AWESOME looks at about eye-level 15 ft away!!!!) American Redstart - 8+ ,all females Common Yellowthroat - 1, immature male Good birding!!
