Thursday evening, I was using the riding mower at the edge of our yard near the street. I then started up one side of the driveway, along an area that is "natural" (lots of small trees and undergrowth). I saw something moving in the shorter growth behind the brush - a Wild Turkey. It (probably a hen) was strolling along, apparently undisturbed by the mower noise. As I slowly made my way up the driveway, it disappeared into the undergrowth. This was almost exactly the same time of night (7:30) as I had seen a single turkey cross the road from our yard to the woods on the other side one day last week. We live in Seymour (south of Knoxville) in a rural area and are surrounded by woods, fields, and brushy areas. We have a small "lily pond" in our back yard, plus a farm pond about 50 feet square in the pasture, and lots of wildlife apparently use them both.
