I hve a nikon fieldscope ED III and a zoom lens, and I love it. Mine is 60
mm b/c I do not like the extra size and weight of the 80mm, but I am sure
you will like it. There is some distortion at the upper ends of the zoom,
but I still use it primarily over the wide angle lens.
If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting the scope? Is there
somewhere in Memphis you can look at them?
