This am, I observed the resident Red-shouldered Hawk streak across the front lawn from the neighbor's wooded yard approx 30 feet above the ground.  Seconds later a Mississippi Kite followed in hot pursuit.  The kite caught the hawk and struck it on the back just as both passed over the driveway.  The hawk veered off into the woods and the hawk peeled off the other direction.

I have never before witnessed this particular raptorial conflict.
